Mascot and Cheerleaders

The Hurricanes’ official mascot is Stormy the Ice Hog who arrived at the same time as the Hurricanes did in North Carolina back in 1997. The cartoon pig with the tuft of hair on his head wears his Hurricanes jersey to every game as he cheers with the fans.

The team’s ice squad is the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad, making its debut along with the Hurricane’s arena in 1999. The Storm Squad is open to both women and men as it currently consists of 10 women and one man. The squad has its own monthly calendar and has been featured all over the media with appearances on ESPN, ABC and NBC Sports, and the 96 Rock morning show. Charity and community events include the Kids ‘N Community Foundation, Toys for Tots, and Strike Out Autism.
